Introduction to ZapaDeal‘s Penny Auctions:
One of ZapaDeal’s most popular types of Auctions is called the “Penny Auction”. Penny Auctions usually move much more quickly than many other types of Auctions.
How ZapaDeal Penny Auctions work:
With every bid, the count down timer goes up a certain number of seconds. The Timers on all regular Penny Auctions go up 10 seconds per bid.
Auctions designated as “Hyper Penny Auctions” go up 5 seconds per bid.
You can tell how many seconds the Penny Auction will go up very easily by looking at the icon next to the large count down timer, the number inside the icon will clearly show you how many seconds the timer will go up per bid.
You can see when the Auction will end by the large, highly visible count down timer that has been designed to count down in real time. The winner of a Penny Auction is the listed Auction bidder when the Auction ends.
For example, lets say that:
* The Penny Auction product is an iPod Nano
* There are three bidders who are currently bidding on that product: Joe, Jane, and Jack.
* The time is set to go up 10 seconds per bid, to allow other bidders time
* The price is at $2.91
* There are 2 minutes remaining
* Jack bids, and the price goes up one penny (because it’s a Penny Auction)
If no one else bids after Jack, then Jack wins the iPod Nano for $2.92.
However, if Jane bids, even just 2 seconds before the product time is up, then Jane will be listed as the Current Bidder unless someone else has bid after her.
If no one else bids after Jane, then Jane wins the iPod Nano for $2.93.
Often times, if Joe, Jane, and Jack are all interested in that Auction, then after Jane bids, Joe or Jack will bid again, to make sure that they are in the top spot.
To extend the example, if Jack bids, then Jane, then Joe, then Jane, then Jack, then Joe, and Jack and Jane decide not to bid again, then Joe (as the Current Bidder) will be the winner when the Auction ends.
Question:
What does a particular Penny Auction product usually end at?
Answer:
The simple answer is that a particular Penny Auction can end at any price.
A Penny Auction will go until no one else bids after the Current Bidder. Then the Current Bidder wins.
One idea is to wait until a product has reached a certain price before bidding. The reason that this is probably not a good idea is that if Joe, Jane, and Jack are bidding, and Jack and Joe decide to wait till the iPod Nano reaches $3.00 in price, then Jane could easily win the iPod Nano at a much lower price!
Then Joe and Jack will not be able to join in, because the product has already ended with Jane as the winner, and all they have managed to do is allow Jane to get the product at a much lower price, while they have missed out.
Therefore, the key to winning is often being willing to do what it takes to be and stay the Current Bidder until the Auction ends.
How ZapaDeal Set Price Auctions work:
ZapaDeal’s Set Price Auctions work just like the Penny Auctions with one key difference: the ending price will not go beyond a certain level.
Although the cost of the Set Price auction may continue appear to go up (as with a Penny Auction), these types of auctions are very clearly marked as Set Price Auction, along with $ price.
Therefore, if a product is sold through a $12.00 Set Price Auction, then $12 will be owed by the winner of the Auction after it is won.
If a product is sold through a $0.00 Set Price Auction, then the winner receives the product without any additional cost.
Obviously, the winner will have spent at least one or more bid credits in order to win the Auction in the first place, even with a $0.00 Set Price Auction.
How ZapaDeal Bid to Zero Auctions work:
Bid to Zero Auctions go down in price every bid. The Start Price shows the price that the product started at, before the first bid. This start price is based on the street retail value of the item. The “Current Price:” is hidden. To view the current price, a ZapaDeal member must spend a single bid credit through ZapaDeal’s service.
After spending a bid credit, the price is displayed for a certain number of seconds (usually 5 seconds) and the price goes down $0.20 cents for everyone.
For example, lets say that there is a product with a street price $400. ZapaDeal has put the start price for this product at $400. For the sake of this example, this product has been bid down to $200.
The “Start Price:” will now show $400, and the “Current Price:” will show “???”.
Once you click on the “Reveal Price” button the following three things will occur: 1) The item price will go down $0.20 2) You will see that the price is now $199.80 3) Your username will be placed as the last member to Reveal the Price at the top of the list
Now other members may be interested in seeing what the price has gone down to.
When another members clicks on the “Reveal Price” button the following three things will occur: 1) The item price will go down $0.20
2) They will see the price (at least $199.60 though possibly a lot less if other members have been bidding)
3) Their username will be placed as the last member to Reveal the Price at the top of the list
The end of the Auction occurs when the Bid to Zero Auction reaches $0, just as the name implies.
So the member who clicks on the item when it’s $0.20 or less in price wins the Auction for the $40,000.00 car product!
Bid To Zero Auction House compared to the Penny Auction House:
Because Bid to Zero Auctions do not have a count down timer and are often used for higher priced products, they can often take longer to end than Penny Auctions. Because Bid to Zero auctions are usually available for a longer period of time, a larger number of people tend to bid on them, though the number of credits spent by each person is usually less than on a comparable Penny Auction.
Penny Auctions can have the advantage of ending sooner, and have a smaller number of people bidding, but each individual member may spend a larger number of credits on the Penny Auction, due to the nature of the type of Auction House.
How ZapaDeal Buy Anytime Auctions work:
A ZapaDeal “Buy Before Zero” Auction works just ZapaDeal’s Bid to Zero Auction, with one bid exception: You can buy the product whenever you like.
In a sense, “Buy Anytime Auctions” (also called “Buy it when you like it” Auctions) could also be considered akin to retail product sales, if bought at their full starting price.
Purchasing a “Buy Anytime” item at it’s full retail price is probably a decent value, since the price will be around the same as if purchased at a retail store.
However, as soon as the price drops through bidding, the deal becomes better and better for the individual who chooses to buy it when they like the price.
If a particular Laptop computer is retailing in an electronics store $800, and someone buys it from ZapaDeal at $500 though a Buy Anytime auction, then it may be considered that the purchaser received a good deal.
